Invitation: The re-scheduled Barrier-Free BC official launch, Victoria BC, April 6, 2016, 11:00 AM on the Steps of the Legislature

Barrier-Free BC Bulletin – March 12, 2016
The Barrier-Free BC Steering Committee regrets the earlier postponement of its scheduled launch originally set for February 24. We apologize for any inconvenience
this may have caused.
With the same passion and enthusiasm, we invite everyone to attend the re-scheduled Barrier-Free BC official launch at a media presentation on the steps
of the Legislature in Victoria on Wednesday April 6 2016 at 11:00 AM. Every person calling on the Legislative Assembly to enact a strong and effective
British Columbians with Disabilities Act is welcome to come out and show their support for this much-needed legislation. Sign language interpretation will
be on site. If the weather fails to cooperate, the Oak Room inside the Legislature has been reserved as an alternate location for this event.
Following the media presentation, Barrier-Free BC has been invited to attend the Legislative Gallery to view Question Period (from1:30 -2:45) during which
those wishing to represent a disability organization and/or disability sector will be introduced to the House by one or more MLA’s. If you are authorized
to represent a specific disability organization and/or have an interest in representing a disability sector, please respond to this invitation as quickly
as possible. We will require your first and last name, the disability community to which you belong and/or the name of the disability organization you
will be representing. Seating is limited and we want to ensure as broad a spectrum of disabilities are represented as possible. Also, if you are selected
to attend the limited seats in the gallery, we will need to know of any particular access needs or accommodations you may require. Wheelchair access to
the Gallery is available as is closed-captioning on large screens for people who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Additional seating will be available in the Oak Room (equipped with a large-screen television) for those who are unable to obtain seating in the Legislative
Gallery but may wish to view Question Period. Oak Room capacity is approximately 15 and communication devices for sending tweets are permitted.
We look forward to your attendance and participation on Wednesday April 6.
