CCB-GTT Meetings, January 2025 via Zoom

You are invited to the CCB’s GTT Zoom meetings where we focus in on the technology needs and concerns of Canadians who are blind or low vision.  The calls will take place over the accessible Zoom Conference system, which will allow participants to dial in using their landline phones, smart phones, or computers.  You will find the Zoom link and phone numbers below the meeting listings. Please pay special attention to the “(NOTE)” notation after some of the meeting listings.

Description: David and Nolan will be continuing this small group workshop on Editing text on an iPhone  topics include, but are not limited to, how to correct errors in a dictated message or email, how to find and select unwanted words or lines, how to check for punctuation and spelling and how to insert new text.

CCB-GTT Unseen Touch Screen Course Session 25 with Michael Feir

Description: The camera on your iPhone is a tremendously useful addition for Blind users. Combined with the internet, human sighted volunteers and artificial intelligence, the right apps can do a whole lot of good. We’ll discuss the apps which harness these capabilities to help you read printed documents, identify items, find lost things and tell you what is around. We’ll also discuss some of the implications of these tools and the economics making it all possible.

This course is based on the second edition of Michael Feir’s free e-book, Personal Power: Getting the Most From iOS as a Totally Blind User. This book can be downloaded in several formats from: Michael Feir’s Blog: April 2022

World Braille Days

Once again, the CCB is proud to help in the planning and delivery of world braille days events in January of 2025.
This year, marks the fifth year we have collaborated on these events and so we look back and talk again to guests we have welcomed over the past five years.
The English event takes place  from 1-3 eastern time on Friday January 17.
The french event takes place at the same time on Tuesday January 21st.
